Water chestnut is a term used for three different plants and their fruits, for their resemblance to chestnuts:
- Trapa natans, also called water caltrop, native to central Europe, the Nile Valley, and western Asia.
- Eleocharis tuberosus, the Chinese water chestnut.
- Pachira aquatica, a native of the tropical Americas.
