User talk:Charles Marean, Jr
Welcome!
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! D. Matt Innis 12:34, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Hi, Charles, welcome to CZ. We appreciate your efforts to contribute to our project. However, it seems that you still need to get acquainted with our guidelines and principles.
For instance, we have severe restrictions concerning the importation of articles (see). While articles written by you alone may be imported, importation must not be the first and main activity. Moreover, even correctly imported articles need to be adapted to our style.
Further, we do not have articles like Object (things) or Names (words), and we do not use and create Categories as you did.

Object(things)
Hi Charles, I was investigating your concerns and cannot find any sign of an article called Object(things). Could it be that it was called something slightly different? On other issues; it appears that Peter is just giving you some friendly advice, albeit short and sweet. Professionally, we don't need to add extraneous commentary and stating facts alone shouldn't be interpreted as rude. He is trying to educate you about how we work here at Citizendium. I'm sure you'll catch on. In the meantime, we'll probably relocate some of your articles to better fit our needs, so keep an eye out for where they end up. Some may actually be split up and added to already existing articles, etc.. D. Matt Innis 16:51, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- It's Objects (things). That, and the companion article Names (words), seem to duplicate the material treated in the existing Linguistics article Signifier, so I put a "duplicate" template on the two new articles, so maybe a Linguistics Editor (we actually have at least one active one!) can decide what, if anything, to do about it. - Okay, that explains what happened to Object(things), (we forgot the space and the s - Objects (things)! Thanks, Bruce, that seems like a reasonable thing to do. Charles, again, if you like we can move the articles to a place where you can work on them under your user space, such as User:Charles Marean, Jr/Object (things), where you can develop them further or find other articles in which to integrate your information. - That would be alright I suppose, since it would still give me some motivation to read the book (i.e. the book I’m using as a reference) and some of what I write might turn out to be worth using in some articles.--Charles Marean, Jr 20:28, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
