Megiddo is a town and area in Israel, whose name is linked to the Biblical concept of the ultimate battle at Armageddon. There is a significant archeological site with evidence of past battles, [1] designated as a UNESCO World Historic Site. [2]

Current battle, however, goes on betwee the regional authorities and tourist developers, the latter wanting to build a second international airport for Israel. [3] It would be based on a decommissioned air force base. [4]
