What is the upgrade process?

What is the process to upgrade from an Author to an Editor ? Currently I am an author in Physics and Engineering. Larry Sanger mentioned that I might be worthy of becoming an editor. Charles F. Radley 17:21, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
