Greetings! I have been at Citizendium since the pilot began. I hold the roles of Assistant to the Chief Constable, author, and informally Media Assets Lead. Education and experience You can learn about my educational and work achievements by reading my resume. I plan to enter an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in 2008. Academic Interests "I am specializing in the Universe and all that surrounds it." —Peter Cook I have very broad interests. Among them are: anthropology, development, interdisciplinarity, literature, pedagogy, philosophy, political economy, politics, theology, and wikis. Micronesia, the Caribbean, Latin America. Work I have numerous years international work experience and it has marked all I do. One of my main passions is adult education and its role in community-based development. My pedagogy is eclectic yet informed by critical literacy in the vein of Paulo Freire. One of Freire's co-authors, Ira Shor, perfectly defines critical literacy as facilitating habits of thought, reading, writing, and speaking which go beneath surface meaning, first impressions, dominant myths, official pronouncements, traditional cliches, received wisdom, and mere opinions, to understand the deep meaning, root causes, social context, ideology, and personal consequences of any action, event, object, process, organization, experience, text, subject matter, policy, mass media, or discourse.[1] I teach adults remedial literature and reading, writing, social sciences, computers, and special topics. I am also a curriculum writer, and a tutor of students with often complex second-language acquisition difficulties. Play I greatly enjoy fishing and could tell you some "fish stories" with happy endings and that are actually true. I also enjoy camping and am enormously thankful for mosquito repellent. I additionally enjoy cooking, movies (especially sci-fi), and dogs. I also enjoy contributing to a "fun" article now and then, like Tux. Contributions Obviously, most of my contributions are "meta"-related or behind-the-scenes. I just don't have time very often to really bunker down and write articles—I am here, first, to help you write articles. Still, I have contributed significantly to: Anthropology Butler - an approved article. If I show up at an article you've been working on and decide to become substantially involved with it as an author, know that I am a perfectionist with standards in kind. Our approved articles will soon enough be compared side-by-side with Britannica and Wikipedia.
