::Ah, I see what you're saying. Lemme think about it and see if I can find a alternate way of getting this info across. I think a comments column, unless you put in real info for each fight, would take up too much room uselessly. A second line underneath for an occasional fight would be better, I think.  As for the tennis table, that was entirely Chris Day and Robert King who did the templates -- it's magic to me! Write-a-Thon

This is for the write-a-thon, I had been working on it prior to the decision to have that event. Hopefully someone will find some interest in it. :) --Todd Coles 20:34, 31 July 2007 (CDT)

consecutive

I wonder if the word "consecutive" is really needed? I realize that *some* champions occasionally fought a *non-championship* fight, but mostly when they fight it's always for the championship. Also, in the table, couldn't you put in a second line, under the name of the opponent, to say whether Louis won or lost the championship (or was fighting for it, say, and lost). That's a nice table, by the way! Hayford Peirce 15:03, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

I suppose the consecutive label could be debatable - Louis appears to hold the record for most defenses, and they happen to be done consecutively as well. While no one has come close to this (Larry Holmes had 20, which is pretty close) you have to take into consideration that there were fighters who held the title multiple times, such as Ali and Holyfield. Granted, heavyweight boxing is on its way to extinction, especially in lieu of the increased popularity in UFC type stuff, but I still think it's noteworthy.
As for the table, I had been wondering as I was making it how I wanted to deal with noting title fights and the like. I had been toying with the idea of placing a comments field on the far right, but underneath it might work as well. And thanks for the compliment, it's the first one I've ever made - nothing quite as spectacular as the famous tennis player one you made. :) --Todd Coles 15:28, 9 August 2007 (CDT)
