I am a chemical engineer specializing in space flight life support systems engineering, particularly food supply and waste treatment systems. Following several years as a process engineer in the food industry, I earned a PhD and began an academic career. I teach thermodynamics and bioseparations, and have covered a number of other courses as a sabbatic leave replacement.
Outside of work I enjoy playing the violin, cooking, and gardening. I am an active participant in the Folding@Home project and an occasional contributor to Wikipedia.
