I intend to maintain this article on Citizendium. I wrote its original version for Wikipedia during 2006. The source for most of the material was the public domain Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships. I did the extensive Wikification, which included standardization of geographical names across the range of articles on similar ships. I also copy edited the DANFS material, added facts, found photos and external links, etc. The table at the top of the article is based on similar tables in Wikipedia. There have been few changes by others, and they are minor. I left in the red links, hoping that Citizendium would have articles about them soon.
When I brought the article to CZ, I added sections for each year the ship was in commission, improved the headings on the table, and made minor copy edits.
STYLE FIXES:
- Delete categories, etc.
- Fix DANFS reference
- Fix top of table
- Use modern abbreviations for rank
- Bring battle star info to top
- Put sections for each year, etc., where applicable
