I'm currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at Saint Mary's University (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada). I received my PhD from Simon Fraser University in 2003.

My teaching interests lay in research methodology. I currently teach Research Design , Data Analysis, Advanced Research Methods--classes that are organized around the questions of how sociologists know what they claim to know and how sociologists claim that this knowledge is accurate.

My research interests are oriented to understanding the connections between gay men's health, health promotion, health knowledge, the body, and the pleasurable practices associated with risk taking, sex, and drug use. My doctoral research on circuit parties-large all night dance parties attended primarily by gay men-and my current research projects extend from this focus.
